Recycling Update

By Alton Powell | Nov 11, 2008

We have a new arrangement for the city's recycling center. All recyclable material (EXCEPT ALUMINUM CANS) goes in the one large container and will be sorted out by high tech method at the recycle company. The container will be delivered and will replace everything, except the aluminum can trailer, which will continue to be processed by volunteers from the recycle committee.

If your paper will tear and is free of food and drink--it may be recycled.
Sorting is not necessary and there is no need to remove paper clips or staples.

The recycling committee offers this handy chart to help you determine what may be recycled.

Acceptable Items Unacceptable Items
Office paper -- all types Styrofoam
Newspapers and magazines Waxed cardboard
Telephone books Food waste in steel or food cans
Plastic bottles & containers Kitchen trash
Mail -- all types Tissue products

Please do not put trash in the recycle containers as this may jeopardize our program.

The Recycle Committee sincerely requests your cooperation and support in this very worthwhile program for our city. Thank you for your help.
